Jennings has been a Mustang since 2004 when he began his coaching career as an assistant men's basketball coach. He helped the squad to a 60-60 record over a four-year span, then accepted the role of head coach of the Mount Mercy women's basketball team prior to the 2009-10 campaign. Jennings amassed a record of 138-90 while leading the Mustangs to the quarterfinals of the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship in 2012. After leading the women's program for seven seasons, Jennings began his current stint as head men’s basketball coach in October of 2015. During his first season with the men's program, he was named the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Coach of the Year after leading the Mustangs to the A.I.I. championship and a berth in the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship. The following season, Mount Mercy's first in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, Jennings guided his team to their first NAIA Division I national tournament appearance. During the 2020-21 campaign, he reached the 100-victory plateau in the men's program. Prior to his time at Mount Mercy, Jennings played professionally in Croatia in 2003 and for the Cedar Rapids River Raiders in 2004. Between his time on both teams, Jennings served as an assistant coach for his alma mater, Benton Community High School, where he was named the Iowa Class 3A Assistant Coach of the Year. Jennings was also inducted into the Iowa High School Athletic Association Basketball Hall of Fame in 2018.

Misener spent four years playing for the Mustangs, helping them to two national tournament appearances. He has spent over 12 years coaching basketball, with stints as a college and high school assistant, AAU head coaching experience, and several years as an individual basketball trainer. Misener is also the program director for Iowa Prep club teams.
